7 Book Recommendations For Halloween Season
--
Read, creeps.
In my home, these books are season-less, but for you I’d imagine the time is now. One of the reasons why I think so many people leap into “Spooky Season” with their whole Instagram is that it’s simply an opportunity to have fun while enjoying the ever-changing feelings, sights, scents, and moods of the year. It’s adulthood play, and I think it’s beautiful. Here, I’m recommending a few books for my friends who extend the season straight to their shelves.
Divine Your Dinner: By Courtney McBroom and Melinda Lee Holm. I received this book as a gift from a podcast listener and I think it’s one of my favorite gifts ANYONE has ever given me, much less someone I’ve never met. It’s a cookbook pairing incredibly relatable, useful dishes with every card in the Tarot. You can literally cook your way through your next reading, are you kidding me? The book includes large and small dishes as well as desserts and cocktails. I find myself flipping through it for fun all the time. By the way at $14.99 this is an AMAZING price for a cookbook.
The Melancholy Death Of Oyster Boy: By Tim Burton, this was also a gift now that I think about it. Any Tim Burton fan is in their FEELS at this time of year, and this book of poetry and short stories is an excellent autumnal companion. True collectors will want the hardcover, but I love that I have the paperback because there are illustrations in here I actually plan to tear out and frame. They’re that good. They’re that Burton.
Yours Cruelly, Elvira’s Memoir: By Cassandra Peterson which is her real name if you’re wondering. I bought my copy off Amazon following a very enthusiastic review of the book I saw on TikTok and when I opened my copy, it was SIGNED. This book and I were meant to be together. Y’all, Elvira is funny. Genuinely funny, delightfully candid, and just as much fun as you’re hoping she’ll be. One of the best celebrity…
